twine trees

One of the things on my Christmas To-Do list was create a new Christmas centerpiece.  I think I’d been using the same red plate charger with pine cones and a candle.  I needed something new.

For under $20, here’s what I did:

I got the idea for the twine Christmas trees here, and I think she got it here.
The glass vases were from the Dollar Tree ($1!).
The beads were from Hobby Lobby, 40% off so they were like, $1 for a string of 18ft.
We live in East Texas, so the pine branch was FREE.
The ornaments were leftover from another project.
Glass jars = FREE. (salsa jar, pasta sauce jar, old votive candle holder)
Candles are the LED battery powered kind.  I LOVE them!  Don’t have to worry about little kiddos, or leaving them “lit.”  Hobby Lobby again, and they were $7.99 but I had a 40% off coupon.

On the twine trees, I decided just to hang a single line of beads for color.  Wanna know the super trick to getting them to stay on top?  I cut a paperclip in half so I just had a loop (kind of like a long staple) and stuck it over the string of beads.  I’m cheap.

Anyone else had any fun decorating ideas for people on a budget?
